After much thought, plenty of enthusiastic brainstorming, and a shared vision for the future, we’re thrilled to announce that our beloved Wharfside Community Gardens is evolving. We’re changing our name to Wharfside Park! This update reflects the exciting growth and expansion of our space, as well as the many new activities and workshops we have in store for the community.

The name change is just the beginning of what’s to come, and we can’t wait to share everything with you! Here’s a look at some of the exciting changes and additions happening at Wharfside Park.

Introducing Forest School for Kids of All Ages and Abilities

One of the highlights we’re most excited about is the introduction of Forest School sessions for children of all ages and abilities. At Wharfside Park, we believe that learning doesn’t just happen in classrooms—it happens outdoors, through exploration and hands-on activities. Our Forest School leaders will guide children through a variety of fun and educational activities such as den building, fire lighting, nature walks, bug hunts, and of course, plenty of muddy adventures!

These sessions are designed to inspire curiosity, encourage creative problem-solving, and develop important life skills. But it’s not just about having fun (although there will be plenty of that!). Forest School also helps kids build confidence, teamwork, and a deep connection with nature, all while fostering a sense of environmental stewardship. We’re looking forward to seeing your little ones come home with exciting stories, new skills, and maybe even a few new muddy friends!

Ecology and Sustainability Workshops for Everyone

But that’s not all! At Wharfside Park, we’re passionate about sustainability and ecological practices, which is why we’re introducing a wide range of workshops and activities focused on ecology, gardening, and green living. Whether you’re an experienced gardener looking to expand your knowledge or someone who’s just starting out, these workshops will provide something for everyone.

You can learn about everything from composting to beekeeping, permaculture to wildlife conservation. Our expert workshop leaders will guide you through hands-on activities and practical tips to help you grow in your gardening journey while caring for the planet. These sessions are not just about learning new skills—they’re also about building connections with others who share your interest in sustainability, all while making a positive impact on the environment around us.

Sustainability in Action: Building a Greener Future Together

We believe that small actions can lead to big change, and at Wharfside Park, we want to encourage everyone to adopt sustainable practices that make a difference. Whether it’s learning about the importance of native plants, discovering how to reduce waste in your garden, or understanding how to work with nature rather than against it, these workshops will help you take practical steps toward a greener future.

Allotments and Gardens: Still the Heart of Wharfside Park

Our allotment plots and community gardens will always remain the heart of Wharfside Park. These spaces are not just about growing food—they’re about growing community. We’re incredibly proud of the diverse group of gardeners who make up our community, and we’re excited to continue offering these spaces for you to cultivate your own produce, share gardening tips, and build meaningful connections with your neighbours.

The allotments are a place where you can unwind, connect with nature, and feel the satisfaction of growing your own food. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener with a wealth of experience or a beginner who’s just starting to dig in the dirt, Wharfside Park offers a welcoming space for everyone to learn, grow, and thrive.

What Else Is Happening at Wharfside Park?

As we look to the future, we’re committed to creating even more opportunities for you to get involved at Wharfside Park. Along with our Forest School and workshops, we’re planning more events, community gatherings, and eco-friendly initiatives to bring people together and support a sustainable lifestyle.

Whether you’re joining us for an educational session, helping out with a community garden project, or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings, there’s always something happening at Wharfside Park.

We’re also exploring new ways to make our park even more accessible, inclusive, and community-focused. From offering more resources for gardeners to expanding our wildlife-friendly initiatives, we’re always working to improve and create a space that serves everyone.

Join Us in Growing Together!

We hope you’re as excited as we are about all the new developments at Wharfside Park. We can’t wait to see you all there—whether you’re getting your hands dirty in the allotments, participating in a Forest School session, or learning something new in one of our sustainability workshops. Wharfside Park is all about growing together, supporting one another, and making a positive impact on the world around us.

As always, we welcome your ideas, suggestions, and involvement in shaping the future of Wharfside Park. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to grow and evolve!
